Physiotherapy is a dynamic profession with an established theoretical and scientific base. Physiotherapy, through the many modalities available, has widespread clinical application in the restoration, maintenance and promotion of optimal physical function.
Our Physiotherapist is a highly skilled professional who diagnoses and manages movement dysfunction to enhance physical and functional capabilities.
She restores, maintains and promotes not only optimal physical function but also optimal quality of life as it relates to each individual.
Do I need a Doctor’s referral?
While their doctor refers many clients to physio, it is not necessary and family and friends have recommended many of our clients at Albion Park Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic. The Therapist at our Clinic is fully qualified and state registered and able to treat patients without medical referral. If you are able to claim a rebate for physiotherapy services from a private health fund, this is possible without a medical referral.
A medical referral from your general practitioner is necessary if:
- You have been injured at work and your case is being managed by work-cover.
- Your treatment is covered by Veteran Affairs.
- You are claiming your treatment expenses through a 3rd party claim.
Your physiotherapist is also able to refer you on to other medical and allied health professionals where appropriate.
Can I claim a rebate for my treatment?
We have HICAPS so you can get immediate health fund rebates and we bulk bill Medicare. We also treat Worker’s Compensation, Third Party and Department of Veterans’ Affairs patients.
If you have private health cover and subscribe to “extras” cover you should be eligible to claim part of your treatment fee. There are many different schemes and you are best advised to check your level of cover with your insurer.
If you are covered, most health funds are online with HICAPS. This is a service we provide for your convenience that allows you to claim your health funds rebate at our clinic, leaving only the gap to pay. You will need to bring your health fund card with you.
We are with HCF’s “More for Muscles” program and the initial consultation is usually covered in full. We are also a preferred provider with NIB and their associated funds.
Medicare now offers Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Programmes to allow a Medicare rebate.
Initial consultation is $78, subsequent treatment is $73 and we offer a Pensioner rate of $68 and $63 respectively.
